How to use ‘Picture-in-Picture’ on a Mac

Posted on December 23, 2022

You’re probably familiar with the super-handy ‘Picture-in-Picture’ feature that allows you to watch two programs at once on your TV.

Well guess what? You can do the same thing when you’re watching a video on your Mac.

If you enjoy using your Mac to watch YouTube videos you can quickly go into ‘Picture-in-Picture’ mode without ever exiting the video. Here’s how:

1 – Right-click on the video and ignore the menu that pops up.

2 – Right-click on the video again and the second menu that pops up will have a ‘Picture-in-Picture’ option on it.

If you’re watching a video on a website other than YouTube, try right-clicking the Audio icon in the Safari toolbar and selecting Picture-in-Picture.

That’s all there is to it. Now you know how to use ‘Picture-in-Picture’ to watch a video in the corner of the screen while you’re actually using your Mac for something else.

By the way, in addition to the ‘Picture-in-Picture’ feature, your Mac offers several other features, settings and tweaks you can use while you’re watching a video.

I recommend spending a minute or two just clicking around to see what’s available.
