As you probably know, Google search results often include photos of people who are relevant to the search query in some way, and that does include minors.
If you’re the parent or legal guardian of a minor (below the age of 18) whose photo(s) are included in Google searches you can request that Google remove those photos.
Minors themselves can also request the removal of their photos if they’d prefer not have an adult involved in the process.
This policy is welcome news for the millions of minors, parents and guardians who have long been frustrated by having these images pop up online for anyone who happens to enter the right search term to see.
I believe this is a major step in the right direction in regards to protecting the privacy and ensuring the safety of minors online.
If there are one or more photos that you’d like to have removed, head over to this Google blog post and carefully read the information you find there, then follow the instructions provided to request the removal of any photos that meet their criteria for removal.
