Question from Gene T.: About a year and a half ago I installed a Ring WiFi Video Doorbell and the app is telling me the battery is now at only 17%.
I know I need to recharge the battery, but I lost the documentation that came with it and I can’t figure out how to recharge it. Can you give me instructions?
Rick’s answer: Gene, it’s actually quite easy to recharge the battery in your Ring Doorbell, but you will need to remove the doorbell unit from it’s mounting bracket in order to do it. Simply follow the steps below:
1 – Remove the two small Phillips head screws from the bottom of the doorbell. Note: You might have to get down on your knees and look up towards the bottom of the doorbell.
2 – After you have removed both screws, simply lift the doorbell unit upwards and away from the bracket.
3 – Connect the charging port on the back of the doorbell to any standard micro-USB charger. (Note: The one you use to charge your smart phone should work just fine.)
4 – Charge the battery until the lights on the doorbell stop spinning and turn solid blue. The solid blue lights will indicate that the battery is fully charged.
5 – Disconnect the charger from the doorbell and reinstall the doorbell in its mounting bracket.
That’s all there is to it Gene. With any luck you won’t have to charge your doorbell for at least another year since it lasted 18 months the last time!
