Q&A: How do I turn off Auto Correct in Internet Explorer?

Posted on October 25, 2014

ieQuestion from George T.: Hi there Rick. Love your site! Hopefully you can help me with a problem. I recently installed Internet Explorer 10 and the Auto Correct feature is driving me nuts. Can I turn it off?

Rick‘s answer: You’re not alone George. Virtually every comment I have heard about I.E.’s Auto Correct feature is a complaint, and I’m not a big fan of it either. Luckily, it can easily be turned off. Here’s how:

1 – Click on Tools>Internet Options.

2 – Select the Programs tab.

3 – Click Manage add-ons.

4 – In the left-hand column, click Spelling Correction.

5 – Scroll to the bottom of the window and uncheck the box beside Enable spelling correction.

6 – Click the Close button.

Auto Correct should now be disabled.
